The Board of Governors, faculty, staff, and students of Bethel Bible College of the Caribbean – Jamaica wish to congratulate Mr. Jasford Gabriel on being elected as the President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) for the 2020-2021 period.
This Clarendon native is an educator by profession, he has been the principal of Manchester High School. Before filling this post in 2006, he sensed the need to pursue studies in the field of his choice to serve effectively. He has obtained a Diploma in Secondary Education- Mathematics and Social Studies at Bethlehem Teachers’ College in Malvern, St Elizabeth. He also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Management (Honours) from the University of the West Indies – Mona (UWI – Mona) in 1993. He also pursued Post Graduate Diploma in 2010 at UWI – Mona. In addition to this, he attained a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from the Northern Caribbean University in 2011. For his efforts, he has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Contribution to Education. He has also received awards from many other entities.
Mr. Gabriel believes that all the skills and knowledge he has obtained throughout life and formal education should be used to honour God and serve people. Therefore, he seeks to serve his church and community with fervour in various capacities. He is a member of the Church and Pastors’ Council of the Mandeville New Testament Church of God. Also, he is a member of the Sports Executive of the Woodlawn Citizens Association, Mandeville and a member of the Manchester Peace Coalition. He is also a member Disciplinary Committee of Manchester Football Association. His commitment to his family is decidedly unquestioned.
The Bethel Bible College of the Caribbean – Jamaica is not outside of the scope of Mr. Gabriel’s service. He has been serving as a member of the School Board and as Chairman of the Education and Human Resource Committee since 2016.
